This pic was taken Day 1 in Ghana. Before I was able to take it all in, I couldn’t help but wonder why I still lived in America. The closest comparison to how I live in NYC vs. how I live in Ghana can easily be depicted in the movie “Coming to America” starring Eddie Murphy.

When I was in London two weeks ago, I bought this amazing dress from River Island’s sale. (Vacation Haul coming soon) I knew it would work perfectly in Ghana. Although I arrived to Ghana at 5am, while it was still dark, by the time I was cleared by customs, immigration, etc. I was welcomed by the sun & humidity! The best part about vacationing back home is living care free in George’s big ol’ home. It’s really annoying how big it is. Like seriously, why do I need 7 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms? Why do I need all this yard space? Why do I need a mango, coconut, and orange tree! Totally kidding. I always feel like Annie in Daddy Warbucks’ mansion.
My time in Ghana is coming to an end. I’ll be honest, I miss New York. Actually just free wifi and my godson Amir.

Last week I spent two days in Kumasi, the Ashanti Region in Ghana, to visit family. We’re just ending the rainy season in Ghana so the weather is really cool and breezy.
Besides catching up with family members, one of my favorite things to do in Kumasi is to go to the market. The last picture is a shot of George (my mother) in Kejetia Market. We picked up some groceries as well as some small souvenirs for family and friends. Markets in Ghana (and other developing countries) are very different from those in the America. In Kejetia, you can find anything from baby wipes to black market currency exchanges. It is really a one stop shop; think flea-market style Walmart on steroids.
I’ll most likely add more pictures to this post when I return to the states. In the meantime, enjoy!
So it’s been awhile…. Sorry for my absence! I was in London for 5 days, and now I’m in Ghana. I’ll be back soon. Been spending time with family, enjoying my beautiful house (moving to Ghana doesn’t sound like a bad idea), and taking pictures, as you can imagine…
So many new posts coming! Miss you all! Be blessed!
I take way too many serious shots! So I decided to live a little with this post. I know the overalls trend is soaring right now, especially skirt and short ones. I didn’t think I’d ever participate until I saw one on sale at Zara. With this outfit, I figured a cropped collared shirt would take less attention to the overalls and compliment the shirt. I completed the look with white strappy heels that I scored for $7 last season and statement earrings.
