So today is my birthday! This was actually the first year in quite some time that I celebrated my birthday/holiday season in the United States! I usually take the opportunity to travel to Europe or Ghana. Since I have family in both places, I don’t usually spend money besides airfare…and shopping lol However, due to the fact that I got a new job, I wasn’t allowed to travel or use any of my Holidays until after my 3-month probabtion. That was really bummer because I made plans from the prior year to travel back to London. 🙁

Anyway, I celebrated by having a dinner party of about 21 loved ones at Qi Bangkok Eatery located on 8 ave between 42nd & 43rd streets in NYC. I chose this particular restaurant because of the set up and great cuisine. I frequent this restaurant and, I must say, service is impeccable. It is Thai cuisine -among my faves, and the waiters/waitresses are all quite young and trendy in their all-black apparel (Of course I noticed! 😉 ) If you’re from NYC or ever in the area, I highly recommend this extremely affordable eatery. Dinner for 2 won’t cost you more than $40- great for first dates! If you’re looking to have a dinner party at Qi, they require you to choose from 2 pre-fix/family-style menus ($30-$40/ per person). I think that’s pretty reasonable compared to other noteworthy Asian restaurants: ex. Mr. Chow’s which requires $75/per person pre-fix menu.

My outfit– was decided literally hours before the dinner. I bought my Manolo’s a few months back with plans to preserve them for my wedding day. But then I thought, “Christina, what if they can’t fit you on your wedding day? Or better yet, what if you fall in love with another pair of shoes for your wedding day?” ….Well, that’s how I got to wearing “Something blue” on my birthday.

I purchased two outfits becuase I am extremely indecisive. The second outfit (See pics below) is more polished than the outfit I opted for. I would’ve paired them with Giuseppe Zanotti’s below….Anyway, the outfit has not gone to waste. It will be featured on my blog soon when I get around to wearing it!

Glad its Plaid

Plaid Suit (Blazer & Pants): Banana Republic (Blazer Here) // Plaid Blouse: Forever 21 (Similar Here & Here )// Shoes: Zara (Sold out) //Bag: Gucci (Old)

If I told you the struggle I went through to get this plaid suit, you wouldn’t believe me… So during one of my spontaneous Fifth Avenue splurges, I felt the need to purchase an abundance of plaid pieces. Okay- maybe just four but you get the picture (& don’t believe the hype about Fifth Avenue. While you’ll find Bergdorf Goodman, Fendi, Louis Vuitton & Cartier located here, there’s still H&M, Zara Flagship, & Abercrombie & Fitch ). I have been yearning for a plaid suit since I laid my eyes on Andy’s plaid suit (Check out her wonderful blog Here). So I started my journey at Zara’s flagship store on Fifth Avenue and of course the suit was sold out, being that it was an old season look. I settled for their plaid skort- which I’ll post sometime soon. Then I made my way down towards 57th & 5ave, stopping in every store that may potentially carry the suit. Just when I was about to give up & go home, becuase I spent more than enough money on foolishness, I saw the plaid pants on a manican in Tommy Hilfiger. WELL!  If ya ever been to TH on 5th avenue, then you know how overwhelming that store is. There’s about 4+ floors- none carrying the suit I was searching high & low for.  I wasn’t pleased; I walked out of the store with my head down. As I reached to grap pull the front door, a sales associate says “Just so you know, I saw a really cute green & blue plaid suit at Banana Republic just yesterday.” To make a long story medium <– lol, I bought the suit at Banana Republic at 50% (family & friends coupon). If the suit is still available, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND trying it on before purchasing. If you’re petite- definitely buy petite. You won’t want to chance the regular sizes. The pants run really weird in regular sizes- at least for my short muscular legs.

So here’s how I wore the suit to work. If you’re in the corporate world, you know how limited you are when dressing for work. I could have easily worn the plaid suit with the plaid blouse as shown above, but I wanted to be on the safe side so I paired the suit with a white chiffon blouse. I thought the strappy Zara heels were way too trendy for work so I swapped them for these oxblood patent-leather court shoes. Ivanka Trump makes among the most comfortable leather & patent leather heels! Just pure quality at affordable prices! Auntie highly recommends investing in a pair. Many department stores (Burlington Coat Factory, Macy’s, Nordstrom, Century 21) carry them.

Suit (Blazer and pants): Banana Republic// White Blouse: H&M (I prefer this one actually)// Shoes: Ivanka Trump (Black Ones Here ) // Jewelry (Necklace, Earrings & Ring): H&M // Manicure: OPI Linkin Park After Dark (Here)

Spring 2014 Mid Riffs will be taken to whole new level. I’ve always been quite self-conscious about my stomach so I never wore mid-riffs, but who knows what the future holds.  Beach bodies surely don’t happen overnight so lets start a better trend of healthy eating and living and being conscious of what are minds and bodies consume. Quick tip: losing weight is 80% of what you eat & 20% of exercising so focus more on your consumption. Stay tuned for a post on healthy living!

First Post- Anchor Scripture

“Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, shaken together, running over, shall it be poured upon your life. For with the same measure you give, it shall return to you again.”

It’s a scripture I meditate on quite often. Welcome to my blog! I’m excited to see what the future holds in terms of growth and success. I hope that you’ll support me on this journey.
